First time around, circa 1985. Just off Old Compton Street Soho, we found a quiet alley. Earlier in the day we took photos outside 'BOY' on the Kings Road and down in the tube station.
'The Perfect Souls' was the starting point and the ending point.
A few months later my dad passed away and my life took a different direction for the next three decades...
Strange how things come around. Thanks to the musical collaboration with multi talented Harry Christensen, thirty two years later I feel as energised and excited by music and songwriting as I did back then.
After a long day in the studio, I found this photo and couldn't get dad out of my head.That evening I wrote the basic version of Three Little Words.
In the morning we recorded it live and honest. You can hear clicks and bumps from piano pedals and voices, but it is as real a recording as I have ever produced.
It is dedicated to my dad...I miss you.
